Dental Implants in South Mississippi

Magnolia Smiles Family Dentistry places dental implants in-house at all four of our offices in Magee, Purvis, Waynesboro and Wiggins, Mississippi. An implant replaces a missing tooth from the root up, so it looks, feels and works like a natural tooth, and it does not rely on the teeth next to it the way a bridge does.

What a dental implant is

An implant has three parts: a small titanium post placed in the jawbone, which bonds with the bone as it heals; a connector called an abutment; and a crown made to match your other teeth. Once it is finished, you brush and floss it like a natural tooth, and it lets you eat and talk without worrying about a denture slipping.

How getting an implant works

  1. Exam and X-rays. Your dentist checks your jawbone, gums and overall oral health, and talks through whether an implant fits your mouth and your budget.

  2. Placement. The post is placed in the jawbone at your Magnolia Smiles office. You will get clear aftercare instructions for the healing period.

  3. Healing. The bone bonds with the post over the following weeks and months. Your dentist will check your progress at follow-up visits.

  4. The finished tooth. Once healing is complete, the abutment and crown are fitted, shaped and shaded to match your smile.

Implants, bridges, or dentures?

All three replace missing teeth, and the right choice depends on your bone, your gums, how many teeth are missing, and what you want to spend. A bridge anchors to the teeth on either side of the gap. A partial or full denture is removable. An implant stands on its own and is the closest thing to a natural tooth. Your dentist will walk you through the trade-offs at your consult, including how implants fit into a full mouth restoration plan when several teeth need work.

Paying for implants

Ask for the full cost and your payment options before you decide. Sunbit splits the bill into monthly payments for up to 72 months with no hard credit check, and all four offices accept CareCredit. Call your office with your insurance information and the front desk will check your benefits.

Dental implant FAQs

Am I a good candidate for a dental implant?

Most adults with healthy gums and enough jawbone are candidates. Your dentist will confirm it with an exam and X-rays, and talk through your options if your bone needs extra care first.

How long does the implant process take?

It depends on your mouth and how healing goes. Placement is one visit, then the bone needs weeks to months to bond with the post before the finished crown is fitted. Your dentist will give you a timeline at your consult.

Do dental implants hurt?

The placement visit is done with local anesthesia, and most people manage the soreness afterward with over-the-counter pain medicine. Your dentist will explain what to expect and how to care for the area while it heals.

How do I take care of a dental implant?

Brush and floss it like a natural tooth and keep your regular cleanings and checkups. With good care, an implant can last many years.
