Braces and Clear Aligners in South Mississippi
Magnolia Smiles Family Dentistry offers braces, clear aligners and retainers for kids, teens and adults in south Mississippi. Orthodontist Dr. Matt Stumpff sees patients at our Magee and Wiggins offices, and every treatment starts with a consult and X-rays so you know your options before you commit.
Braces, clear aligners and retainers
Braces use brackets and a wire to move teeth, and they work on almost any bite problem. Clear aligners are removable plastic trays that move teeth in small steps, and they suit many teens and adults with mild to moderate crowding or gaps. Retainers hold teeth in their new spots after either one.
What happens at your consult
Dr. Stumpff looks at your teeth, bite and jaw and takes X-rays.
He explains what’s off, which options fit, and about how long treatment will take.
Ask for the full cost, what your insurance covers and the monthly payment before you decide. Sunbit plans run up to 72 months.

Braces FAQs
How old should my child be for a first orthodontic visit?
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic checkup by age 7. Most kids won't need braces that early, but the visit lets the orthodontist spot bite and spacing problems while the jaw is still growing.
How long do braces take?
Most treatment takes one to three years, depending on the bite and how the teeth respond. Dr. Stumpff will give you a time estimate at your consult, before anything starts.
Are clear aligners an option instead of braces?
For many teens and adults, yes. Clear aligners are removable trays you wear 20 to 22 hours a day and switch out on a schedule. Some bite problems still move faster with braces, which is why the consult comes first.
Can adults get braces?
Yes. There's no upper age limit as long as your teeth and gums are healthy. Many adults pick clear aligners because they're hard to see and come out for meals.
